THREADIES SQUAD

Beginner/Entry level squad. The focus of this squad is to develop technique in freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke and introduce butterfly basics.

Swimmers learn how to work in a training group and work on developing swimming skills and drills and slowly work towards competitive swimming. Turns, dives and pace clock are introduced.

Swimmers train 2 days a week for one hour plus 15 minutes of land work.

Barras

BARRAS SQUAD

Swimmers are invited by coaches into the Barras Squad after being identified as having the skills, ability, and commitment to progress. Barras squad is technique focussed, continuing to learn new drills and developing competition skills.

A level of fitness is required to join this squad and lane discipline and etiquette is built upon. Swimmers in this squad display a willingness to improve and compete. Swimmers are encouraged to attend club time trials and local competitions.

Swimmers train 2 days a week for one hour plus 15 minutes of land work.

Bluebones

BLUEBONES SQUAD

The aim of this group is to have or progress towards State level times and to facilitate a pathway to the Sailfish Squad.

This squad continues the strong focus on technique.
Speed and Endurance also becomes a focus, Swimmers in this squad are working towards high level competitive swimming and achieving State Qualifying Times. Swimmers must show a commitment to attendance, motivation, and attitude towards improvement to be invited into this squad. It is an expectation of this squad that they attend club time trials and local competitions and club targeted meets and regional and State level.

Bluebones Squad is a development group for swimmers who are 10 years old and over (or 9 years old in some cases).

Swimmers train 3 days a week for 1 hour and a half plus 15 minutes of land work.

Sailfish

SAILFISH SQUAD

Sailfish Squad are working towards performance-based outcomes. Training extends to 5-6 days/week, with up to 7 pool sessions and 2 strength and conditioning (optional) sessions. This is a 14hour/week schedule.
Swimmers must demonstrate highly proficient skills and technique and be able to train physically and mentally towards State and National events.

It is an expectation of this squad that they attend club time trials, local and regional competitions and club targeted meets with a focus on both SC and LC State and National Meets. And to be available for team relays.
